In Switzerland, we have a dual system when it comes to apprenticeships. You work in a company and go to school at the same time in your chosen subject.
I was a decent student from 7th to 9th grade and chose the traditional way of vocational education in business. It was the same thing as over 50% of our class has decided.
That sounds very high end is, in reality, the basic foundation to work as an administrative assistant, secretary etc. You later will do further educations to move up the career ladder.
I did a diploma during my apprenticeship, which would have allowed me to study at university. It was a heavy load of work that I have always regretted to be honest. I never attended university the past seven years I graduated. But never say never.
My intuition just told me it is not the right time. In the past ten years of working in the corporate world, I learnt to listen to my intuition many times.
Intuition is what moves you forward. Get a job offer, but it just doesn’t feel right? I got it. I had the same several times. It looked amazing from the outside, yet I had to turn down the offer.
You see, there were a lot of lessons I had to learn in my previous jobs. If you are more on the intuitive, compassionate site like me, you sense the energy fast.
You also sense when people are playing on you. I had bosses being nasty, giving me stupid work so that I can feel miserable. Now I know, we choose our feelings; however, there are actions from people you can’t tolerate.
That’s when intuition comes to play. Start to feel how you are feeling. Start discovering the feelings that arise in your body.
Where are they coming from?
- From your throat?
- Your belly?
- Where is it located?
- What do they want to tell you?
- Do you feel bad every time you walk into your office?
- May it time to leave?
I had this feeling twice. In my very first job, I woke up every day in tears, refusing to go to work. I resigned without having a new job and was even more scared never to find a job again. Spoiler alert: I got a new position within three weeks 🙂
What I want to tell you in this story is that your intuition is strong. You feel when it is time to move. You know when it is time to speak up. However, you also need to step up and speak your truth.
Tell the other person how you feel and how they should treat you. You have the right to say no! You have the right to say no to your boss, your coworker and yourself as well!
Listen to your intuition. It will lead you the way!
